Level 1: Blacksmithing for Homeschoolers
Students will start from the beginning, with learning tapers, twists, and shaping. We will make various hooks, snakes, bottle openers, before learning how to weld, and eventually learn the basic of bladesmithing by making a Railroad Spike Knife.
Cost is $100 per month per person. All supplies included. Payment is done at each class. Classes are divided in 2 groups: 11-13 year olds, and 14-17 year olds. Classes are held once a month. Please sign up for each month.
We supply eye and ear protection, as well as gloves. Recommended dress code for all classes as follows: leather shoes or boots, jeans, t-shirt, a work shirt, and something to tie hair up if necessary. Socks that cover the ankle are encouraged. No open toe shoes or shorts. Bring lots of water because it does get a little warm!
Level 2: Blacksmithing for Homeschoolers
Students must have taken Level 1 previously.
Students will continue practicing skills learned in Level 1, as well as learn new skills such as forge welding, creating resin handles. Projects will include Billet knife, Damascus, and sculpture.
